Progesterone. Used in miconized form for absorbtion. Metabolized to allopregnanolone and Hydroxyprenanolone, when taken orally, with useful sedative and anti anxiety effects for Sleep.
Pregnenolone. Can be metabolized to all other steroid hormones but is unpredictable in effects.
Estradiol (E2) aka 17-beta estradiol (the most potent estrogen; 10x vs. E1 and 25x vs. E3)
Testosterone (T). Metabolized to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and then Androstenidione.
Dihydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). An adrenal androgen, both important for men and women.
Cortisol. From the Adrenal gland. Rx is called hydrocortisone or Cortef (brand name).
Thyroid Hormones. T4 is converted to T3, the active hormone, once released from the thyroid.
Human growth hormone (HGH). Injectable only. Measured as Insulin Growth Factor (IGF-1)
Vitamin D3 is a pro-hormone (cholecalciferol) and is metabolized to calcitriol, the active hormone. Vit.D2 (ergocalciferol) is vegetable derived and D3 comes from lanolin. Both D2 and D3 are metabolized first to 25-hydroxyvitaminD: 25(OH)D in the liver and then to the active hormone 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D: 1,25(OH)2D in the kidneys, aka calcitriol.
